The History of Glass Bottles

Glass bottle is a traditional beverage packaging container in my country, and glass is also a very historical packaging material. It is believed that glass came first with glass. The origin of glass bottles has been unearthed in the Han Dynasty in recent years. For example, a glass plate with a diameter of 19 cm and a length of 13.5 were unearthed from the tomb of Liu Sheng in Mancheng, Hebei. In the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, the glass ear cups with a width of 10.6 cm and a large number of Western glass entered and exited China, and the technology of glass blowing was also introduced. At that time, the glass containers were larger, with thinner walls, transparent and smooth. Glass bottles were unearthed at the base of the Northern Wei Pagoda in Dingxian County, Hebei Province, while glass vessels unearthed from the tomb of Li Jingxun in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province included flat bottles, round bottles, boxes, egg-shaped vessels, tubular vessels, and cups. From these unearthed cultural relics, it can be seen that glass containers have a long history.
